THE COVER: The Cle Elum River in central Washing-ton takes its name from the Indian for "swift water." Buthere and there it widens out into lakes. Such spots drawfishermen from miles around -- including, in years past,cover artist JOHN CLYMER, who grew up in nearby Ellensburg. Even in May, as avalanche lilies push up throughreceding snows, anglers make tracks for the trout in thelake shown on our cover. Its name? Fish Lake, naturally.
