ABOUT THIS ISSUE:Last year at this time Post editor-at-large HAROLD MARTINmade a surprise visit to his son, who was fighting in thecentral highlands of South Vietnam, and his moving article, My Son in Vietnam, appeared in our July 16, 1966,issue. In this Post, Martin provides a sequel -- the homecoming of Spec. 4/c John Martin to Atlanta. . . . In his twomonths of nationwide research into the John Birch Society, contributing writer JAMES PHELAN began to suspect a conspiracy of his own -- when theweatherman sabotaged Phelan's interviews in Chicago and New York with the worst snowstorms to hit those cities in several years.... Poet JAMES DICKEY, making his first appearancein the Post, is consultant in poetry to the Library of Congress in Washington and the winnerof the 1966 National Book Award. A volume of Dickey's collected poems will be publishedby Wesleyan University Press this April. . . . THOMAS MEEHAN, who in this issue writesabout film director Otto Preminger, is the author of a book of humorous pieces scheduled forpublication later this year by Simon and Schuster.
